Through distribution, Bettcher Industries offers U.S. beef and pork processors the precision and high yield of Grasselli membrane skinning, derinding and defatting technology. Like Bettcher, Grasselli S.p.A, headquartered in Albinea, Italy, was founded as a family-owned business and produces the most advanced, safest and reliable meat processing equipment.
As part of Grasselli’s MS Series available through Bettcher, the manual MS600 and MS520 offer easy, intuitive operation that’s precise and efficient for beef and pork processing, and it comes optionally equipped with the company’s innovative CLO safety technology that prevents harm to an operator’s hands.
The system uses specialized gloves connected to the machine via non-electrical wires worn under the operator’s standard safety and sanitation gloves. If the CLO gloves come in contact with the machine surface, the skinner detects it, pauses operation, and the toothroller immediately reverses direction, typically all before the operator realizes their outer layer of gloves are damaged.. Grasselli has over 35 years of experience in the development of unparalleled patented safety systems such as its CLO that ensure accident-free skinning and derinding.
The machine’s robust construction is food-grade, non-radioactive stainless steel, and its toothroll is highly resistant steel for greater durability and constant efficiency over time. Fast toothroll speeds boost MS600 and MS520 production rates, while the machine’s modern design with continuous welding and rounded edges ensures greater hygiene. Plus, cleaning and sanitation operations are done without having to disassemble any machine parts.
Bettcher also offers the Grasselli NAB520. Capable of fully automatic membrane skinning, the NAB520 machines deliver accuracy and precision for even the most delicate cuts of pork and poultry thanks to an adjustable infeed belt that can be precisely aligned to the blade and toothroll.
The NAB520 toothroller’s pitch controls how much membrane is removed, and its sharp teeth grip the rind to guide it over a blade that cleanly separates it from the product. A comb then directs the rind into a discharge tray. Rings of teeth separated by slots make up the derinder. In the slots, stripper fingers engage and channel the removed skin into the collection bin.
Featuring Grasselli’s Skin Start System, the NAB520 has a firing toothroller that securely grips the start of the rind to ensure an even and consistent cut. Operators have the option to adjust the toothroller to an upper or lower position to either fully defat the product or remove only the skin. With fully automatic infeed and outfeed, along with a height-adjustable outfeed conveyor, the machines are ideal for in-line automated processing.
Like the MS Series machines, the NAB520 provides easy and thorough cleaning. Operators can open conveyor belts for washing and readily access all major mechanical and electrical components through two side panels for maintenance.
As part of its commitment to customers achieving optimal results, Bettcher ensures highly responsive service and support for Grasselli equipment. In addition to employing staff dedicated to the equipment, the company houses Grasselli replacements parts domestically to provide fast delivery.
Further, Bettcher developed proactive services to meet customer needs and save time. Bettcher’s Grasselli Blade Replenishment Program ensures processors have the right blades and the correct quantity delivered exactly when they are needed. Based on each facility’s production volume and equipment requirements and backed with the knowledge that Grasselli blades are compatible with most major skinner brands, the replenishment program eliminates production interruptions as well as last-minute ordering or emergency shipments. It also allows users to gain consistent performance because they are always cutting with sharp, factory-specified blades.
