Markem-Imaje the global provider of end-to-end supply chain solutions and industrial marking and coding systems for multiple major brands, will be inviting attendees to experience its exciting multisector print and packaging intelligence innovations at the PPMA show in Birmingham next month.
Brands from multiple market segments currently face the challenges of unpredictable production prices and increased demands for traceability, both regulatory and consumer. There is also ever-increasing demand to fulfil both ESG KPIs and cater to new recyclable substrates, all of which Markem-Imaje’s innovations seek to address.
“Manufacturers and retailers need to increasingly embrace the cost-saving, production-boosting benefits of ever-evolving marking hardware and packaging software that can also protect brand reputation and margins,” says Cheryl Goodall, Marketing Manager for North Europe at Markem-Imaje. “This is why we have been innovating solutions that reduce cost of ownership whilst contributing to sustainability targets, developing software solutions to connect devices and communicate data to host systems above all, ensuring compliance with the newest industry regulatory requirements and standards such as the GS1 Digital Link and new EU and US traceability regulations on wine and fresh foods, respectively.”
Markem-Imaje’s newest innovation to be showcased to the UK market will be the exciting new Super Piezo Inkjet (SPI) marking technology which has been designed to answer the demand of brands to have high quality print including serialised 2D codes, essential to incoming US and EU traceability legislation and the revolution coming to the market in dynamic barcodes from GS1. The technology will give brands the capability to mark their products with unique codes on 3D complex surfaces at unprecedented speeds.
In terms of software, the Packaging Intelligence suite, CoLOS® which integrates with virtually all ERP and MES systems, including SAP, to record and encode detailed traceability data will be on display. CoLOS® Mark & Read module guarantees code quality and legibility with the use of cameras whilst also ensuring “right code, right pack”, further facilitating brand protection and will be displayed in conjunction with various marking technologies.
Markem-Imaje will display the latest innovations in laser, Thermal transfer Overprinting (TTO), Print & Apply (P&A), Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) and Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) innovations. The company recently released a new grade of resin thermal transfer ribbon for its SmartDate® X Series coders, specially designed for the increasing demands of food and beverage, pharmaceutical and other industries that increasingly need to print durable codes on newer recyclable paper-based substrates and flexible film packaging.
Within CIJ, Markem-Imaje will showcase its 9750 range of printers, primed for use for sectors from cosmetics to extrusion, capable of powerful traceability coding including text messages up to five lines, logos, and high resolution 1D and 2D codes, on a vast array of packaging. Within the range are models specifically developed for the FMCG and industrial sectors capable of operating in high humidity, dusty conditions, and on ultra-fast lines; the first hybrid CIJ coder with the flexibility to mark with both dyes and pigmented inks; and a model primed for producing camera-readable GS1-compliant dynamic codes as small as 5mm high.
The PPMA show, held in Birmingham’s iconic NEC between 26-28 September 2023, is the UK’s largest packaging and processing event, attracting some 2,650 brands annually. Visit Markem-Imaje at PPMA, Stand C70 and experience the latest innovations in print and packaging for sectors from FCMG to pharma.
