First Mats launches hygienic anti-fatigue mats

Anti-fatigue mats are designed to provide comfort and support for workers who stand for long periods of time. Traditionally, these mats have been made from materials such as rubber or foam, which can be difficult to clean and sterilize. However, a new anti-fatigue mat has been developed specifically designed for sterile environments such as hospitals and food production facilities. The mat is made from a specially formulated material that can be sterilised with steam, whilst also being soft enough to reduce standing fatigue. As a result, the new mat provides both comfort and hygiene for workers in sterile environments.

The Problem with Most Mats

Anti-Fatigue Mats are common in industrial workplaces, especially near CNC machines, assembly lines and packaging areas. In most cases, the cleanliness requirements of these facilities don’t need to go down to a microbial level, so mats made from rubber or foam are perfectly acceptable. For sterile areas, however, the choice of floor matting is far more limited. PVC is a popular material, thanks to its strength, resistance to water, high temperatures and cleaning chemicals. The downside of PVC is its rigidity, meaning it doesn’t offer much in the way of fatigue relief.

Why This Mat is Different

The newly developed Hygienic Anti-Fatigue Mat aims to change all that by combining durable materials with comfort. At the centre of the mat is a revolutionary rubberised gel foam that provides the comfort and stability needed for a mat that supports the user while providing relief from hours of standing on their feet. This is encapsulated in a closed-cell outer layer with built-in antimicrobial properties. It’s also this protective outer layer that allows the mat to be cleaned using detergents or a high-temperature steam sterilisation process. The mat is also oil resistant, Fire tested to BS EN 13501-1 and slip tested to DIN 51130

These unique properties make the Hygienic Anti-Fatigue Mat a great option for those working in hospitals, kitchens, food production facilities and other sterile environments.
