Edonia and Aliive (Dietbon) partner to bring spirulina to the heart of weight management nutrition

Edonia, an innovative young company transforming microalgae into delicious food ingredients, and Aliive, a leading European nutrition pure player, today announced a major commercial partnership. Through its weight management brand Dietbon (dietbon.fr), Aliive is deploying Edonia’s Edo® ingredient—particularly rich in protein—at scale in a new range of balanced ready meals.

“This launch with Dietbon is the market validation the industry has been waiting for. It demonstrates not only our ability to deliver large volumes but also confirms the strategic relevance of Edo®. Thanks to its exceptional nutritional profile and its ease of consumption, we perfectly meet Dietbon’s requirements for low-calorie menus. It also represents a tremendous opportunity to integrate GLP-1 compatible formulations, creating new growth opportunities in a rapidly evolving weight management
market,” said Hugo Valentin, CEO of Edonia.

“We are delighted to introduce the Edo range into two Dietbon meals designed to support everyday well-being. Thanks to this ingredient, we are meeting our customers’ expectations for high nutritional and protein density, natural and healthy products, and affordable pricing,” said Vincent Guillet, CEO of Aliive.

Edonia makes a strong entry into the weight management nutrition market alongside Dietbon

Following its partnership with Newrest, a major player in contract catering, startup Edonia is taking another key step in its commercial expansion by signing a strategic agreement with Aliive, a leading foodtech company dedicated to positive nutrition.

Edonia’s patented Edo® ingredient is now incorporated into two recipes within Dietbon’s flagship ready-meal range, validating the scalability of this microalgae-based protein alternative.

Made exclusively from spirulina and vegetable oil, Edo® is a protein-rich plant-based preparation presented as flavorful brown grains. Cooked spirulina can be easily incorporated into both hot and cold preparations—without any prior cooking or rehydration.

Edo® adapts to all food formats, naturally enhancing taste, texture, and nutritional value. The product is delivered ready to use, making it easy to create nutritious, high-performing food products.

Edo®: the key ingredient addressing the food industry’s challenges

Edonia’s technology does not rely on extraction, extrusion, or texturizing and flavoring additives. Instead, it is based on a natural enhancement of the microalgae’s intrinsic properties through édonisation®. The result is an ingredient with a neutral taste, optimal texture, and outstanding nutritional density (27 g of protein and 30 mg of iron per 100 g).

As the food industry seeks practical solutions to the triple challenge of raw material costs, product naturalness, and nutritional quality, the use of Edo® demonstrates the large-scale potential of microalgae proteins without compromising the organoleptic qualities of finished products.

For Aliive, integrating Edo® enriches meals with essential nutrients while preserving an optimal taste experience for consumers—a fundamental factor in maintaining customer loyalty within weight management programs.
