Regulatory approval enables Zooca and Inhalation Health to introduce Zooca Calanus oil to India’s nutraceutical and functional food market
Zooca® (Calanus AS) and its Indian partner Inhalation Health Pvt. Ltd. announce that Zooca Calanus Oil has been approved by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The approval authorizes import and use in India as a nutraceutical ingredient. Inhalation Health, Zooca’s exclusive distribution partner in India, led the local regulatory process to secure the FSSAI clearance.
Zooca Calanus Oil is a unique marine oil derived from the North Atlantic species Calanus finmarchicus. The natural oil contains a broad lipid profile, including omega
fatty acids (such as omega-3, omega-7 and omega-11), as well as naturally occurring policosanols and astaxanthin. Its wax-ester composition differs from conventional fish
and krill oils and is clinically studied to support health benefits within metabolic health. This includes improved glucose management, cardiac efficiency and maintaining a
healthy body composition.

The FSSAI clearance enables Zooca and Inhalation Health to proceed with market activities in India. Next steps include outreach to dietary supplement and functional
food manufacturers, as well as participation in relevant industry events to share technical information and application guidance. Commercial rollout will focus on supporting Indian brands as they assess Zooca Calanus oil for new product development in the omega category.
