AB-BIOTICS, Kaneka’s probiotics and microbiome science affiliate, will be ‘bringing probiotics to life’ at this year’s Vitafoods Europe, intriguing visitors with its refreshed brand identity and two new probiotic solutions. The science-led company will highlight the latest additions to its portfolio, MetaGuard® and AB-Protears®, for liver and eye health. AB-BIOTICS’ team of experts will be available to discuss the recent clinical studies supporting the benefits and delivery format innovations.
Premium probiotic solutions with characterized mechanisms of action
AB-BIOTICS’ rebrand reinforces the company’s contribution to the expanding field of probiotics. It highlights its portfolio of unique, patented strains with characterized mechanisms of action, premium probiotic solutions targeting specific therapeutic areas, and market-ready products.
Miquel Bonachera, Co-Founder and Executive Director, comments: “Biotics are set to become a mainstream category and an integral part of daily health and wellness routines, and we believe that our unique approach to product development has a lot to offer to the whole category. We see Vitafoods Europe as a fantastic opportunity to meet with the innovative brands that can help bring this belief to market.”
Ground-breaking results in growing health areas
Visitors can also learn more about the latest additions to AB-BIOTICS’ portfolio, in a range of growing therapeutic areas. Launched most recently and available to sample on stand is MetaGuard® – a probiotic blend of Levilactobacillus brevis CECT7480 (KABP052®) and Lactoplantibacillus plantarum CECT7528 (KABP012®) and CECT7529 (KABP013®) that has been shown to support liver health and reduce the risk of progression of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease.[1]
Launched in the eye health space, AB-Protears®, formatted as ophthalmic bacterial lysate (drops), contains the strain Latilactobacillus sakei probio65 (L. sakei probio65). The product is aimed at consumers suffering with dry eye disease (DED) symptoms.
Successful products in innovative formats
AB-Biotics will also be offering familiar product samples including 2023 NutraIngredients Awards finalists i3.1 and Yogumel Defenses. The three-strain probiotic blend i3.1, containing P. acidilactici KABP™ 021, L. plantarum KABP™ 022 and L. plantarum KABP™ 023, modulates the gut-brain axis, fighting back against digestive disorders linked to psychological imbalances such as stress-related diarrhoea and irritable bowel syndrome.[2] Sampled in sachets, Yogumel Defenses is a probiotic yogurt mixture including the strain L. plantarum DR7 and vitamin C. It delivers high-potency live bacteria to ferment milk and allows consumers to make delicious, sustainable and healthy yogurts containing probiotics at home, supporting the normal functioning of the immune system.
As well as traditional formats, visitors can explore prototypes of capsule sachets and child-friendly aluminium tubes which ensure probiotics in liquid form are dispensed carefully with no loss of product, all while maintaining stability.
