Royal DSM, a global science-based company active in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, today announces the opening of Buk2, its newly extended premix manufacturing facility in Buk, Poland. The state-of-the-art plant will enable DSM to increase its production capacity and efficiency, while upholding the highest requirements of safety and reliability. The Buk2 site sets a new standard of quality in premixes for Early Life Nutrition, as well as being fully equipped to serve customers in the Medical Nutrition and Nutrition Improvement end markets.
With the addition of four new dedicated premix production lines, Buk2 will help meet growing demand for reliable and even faster supply of premixes, specifically for consumers who require special care. The best-in-class facility will allow DSM to bolster its specialist premix capabilities, using advanced mixing technology to develop tailored formulas for challenging applications. Ideally located to serve markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Buk site builds on DSM’s leadership and expertise in innovation, manufacturing and quality to provide an enhanced level of end-to-end customer support.
“The demand for tailored nutritional premix solutions for consumers requiring special care – such as medical nutrition for patients, immunity products for elderly consumers, as well as specialized nutrition for infants and young children in Europe, Middle East and Africa – has reached new heights in recent years. Meeting the specific needs of our customers in these markets requires not only a deep understanding of nutritional science, but also the state-of-the-art production facilities that the extended Buk2 site will provide,” comments André Rhoen, Vice President EMEA at DSM.
“We built Buk2 to enable us to continue to partner with customers to create high-quality, customized products with purpose – even under the most stringent regulations – from concept to consumer. As a global leader in premix production, this is an important step in our journey to providing the right nutrients that every generation needs for a healthier, brighter future,” adds Philip Eykerman, President Human Nutrition & Health at DSM.
As part of DSM’s continued commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, including Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Buk2 was designed with optimized energy and water consumption at the site and minimal generated waste.
Brand owners and manufacturers partnering with DSM can benefit from its wide product portfolio, customized solutions and end-to-end expert services, as well as its broader co-innovation capabilities including consumer insights, prototype development and brand activation strategies.
