Savour Flex provides the solution that changes the low-fat snacks market

Savour Flex is a toolbox of ingredients specifically designed to offer a delicious snacking experience from low-fat snacks, offering the very same rich eating experience that you get from full fat snacks. To maximise consumer enjoyment and lock in repurchasing, Savour Flex provides the solution that changes the low-fat snacks market.

For consumers, many low-fat snack options are perceived as ‘dry’ and ‘cardboardy’ with a lack in taste.
As sensory experts, Griffith Foods prides itself on bringing innovation to flavours and the overall sensory experience. Our research highlighted some key fundamentals – consumers want much more taste, a wider range of flavours and a more satisfying eating experience. So, as ever, we set about finding an innovative solution that tackles all these challenges and improves the palatability of low-fat snacks for consumers to enjoy.
Validated by our Sensory Team, Savour Flex modifies the perception of low-fat snacks enhancing sweetness, saltiness and citrus notes and masking the more bitter flavours. It enhances the overall complexity of the seasoning resulting in a much richer mouthfeel and overall eating experience.
In our sensory testing, Savour Flex outperformed both the low fat and high fat options and provided a better eating experience. We asked consumers the following question

Savour Flex answers formulation issues of low-fat snacks in a user friendly, easily applicable formula that addresses taste, texture and overall appearance in ways that will continue to revolutionise the low-fat snacks market. Moreover, by using Savour Flex in conjunction with a spray oil and dust-on system, the snack manufacturer can also offer an improved nutritional label (impacting Nutri-score and compliance with Non-HFSS guidelines).

The use of the toolbox will mean our customers can look at significantly reducing their oil usage. Potentially converting their products from oil slurry to a spray and dust-on solution thereby reducing the fat and calories in their finished product.

Demonstration seasonings include the Sea Salt, Sea Salt and Vinegar, Sour Cream and Onion, Cheese, Roasted Paprika and BBQ but Savour Flex is a Toolbox and can be used for any requested flavour profile. It triggers a richer and rounder taste – which most low-fat snacks are currently missing in the market.

“Savour Flex delivers a better tasting, more full-bodied eating experience when applied to low-fat snacks such as veggie extruded, baked and popped crisps etc., so that consumers will feel more satisfied while enjoying these healthier snacks.”
