Entries are now open for the prestigious British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) Annual Awards. Celebrating excellence in the frozen food industry, the awards feature an array of categories that highlight the diverse and innovative products available in both retail and foodservice sectors, with three new categories for 2024.
With a commitment to recognising outstanding achievements, the awards serve as a platform to showcase the latest in frozen product development. Highlighting the evolutionary nature of the category, new retail categories for pet food, bakery & morning goods and frozen drinks have been introduced this year.
Rupert Ashby, CEO of BFFF, said: “The BFFF Annual Awards are a testament to the dedication and innovation within the frozen food industry. We are proud to provide a platform that showcases the exceptional products and individuals that drive our industry forward.
“The demand for products in a frozen format has grown significantly over the last few years, expanding the scope of the category. Surging demands for morning goods and frozen drinks show us that consumers are looking for more products that allow them to bring the quality and variety available in out-of-home establishments to their own kitchens.
“We’re pleased and excited to recognise pet food as one of the newest additions to the awards categories. This highlights the industry’s adaptability and commitment to meeting the diverse needs of consumers – or rather our four-legged companions. There are several new brands in this space that deserve recognition and we’re looking forward to shining a light on this exciting area.”
The BFFF Annual Awards retail category submissions are due by 1st December 2023, while the foodservice category will remain open until 16th February 2024.

Products entered into the BFFF Awards undergo rigorous testing. Retail products are sampled by independent consumer panels across the UK along with a final panel of professional chefs. Items are prepared according to pack instructions and will be tried around 28 times to ensure fair and proper judging.
Foodservice products are subjected to the highest standard of judging by a team from the Craft Guild of Chefs. The complex process takes place over an eight-week period with samples of the products prepared and served multiple times, as they would be in a professional kitchen.
To further promote the quality, sustainability and cost-saving credentials of frozen food products to a consumer audience, the BFFF recently launched www.frozenfoodrevolution.co.uk. Coupled with the awards, the BFFF aims to create platforms that its members can utilise to drive demand for frozen food by highlighting the benefits and addressing misconceptions.
