Corbion marks 70 years in Latin America by advancing sustainability and community impact

Corbion, the sustainable ingredients company that champions preservation through application of science, is proud to announce its 70-year anniversary in Latin America. In a year shaped by urgent global priorities like food security and environmental resilience, Corbion is marking 70 years in Latin America with a campaign focused on its future in the region. Through community engagement, sustainability initiatives, and continued investment in science-driven innovation, the company is reinforcing its commitment to the region as a hub for progress.

Acting on a legacy: people, planet, and purpose

To celebrate the milestone, Corbion has launched a series of initiatives that reflect its core values and long-standing connection to Latin America. These include:

  • Seven tons of food donated to local communities, symbolizing one ton for each decade of operation
  • Tree planting projects in multiple locations, supporting biodiversity.
  • Employee wellness walks and internal engagement programs designed to activate Corbion’s values of care, courage, collaboration, and commitment

“These actions are not just symbolic. They reflect what Corbion stands for and where we are heading,” said Rafael Contador, Vice President, Latin America. “We believe preservation means safeguarding health, food systems, and natural resources. Our 70th year is a moment to recommit to that mission.”

Latin America: A platform for growth and tailored-solutions

Corbion’s footprint in the region has expanded significantly over the last years through strategic acquisitions, including Granotec, the full asset portfolio of TerraVia in Brazil, and Granolife in Mexico. These moves have strengthened the company’s ability to deliver regionally tailored, sustainable solutions across the food, pet nutrition, and health sectors. Looking ahead, Corbion is prioritizing:

  • Scaling fermentation technology to improve efficiency and sustainability in production.
  • Developing functional ingredient systems that enhance food safety and reduce waste.

“Latin America plays a vital role in Corbion’s global strategy,” Contador said. “We are building on our history here by helping customers grow in ways that are responsible, resilient, and aligned with the future.”

A future-focused milestone

Since establishing operations in Latin America in 1955, Corbion has helped shape food systems that are safer, more efficient, and more accessible. Today, that mission continues with an even sharper focus on sustainability, health, and innovation.

“At Corbion, preservation is about progress,” Contador added. “This anniversary is a celebration of our roots and a call to action. Together with our partners across Latin America, we are building solutions that will carry us all forward.”
