Next date for the popular industry platform in Dresden scheduled for spring 2024
Up until recently, the “green light” for Dresden to stage Sachsenback, Trade Fair for the Bakery and Confectionery Trades, still applied in Central and East Germany: the event team at Messe Stuttgart was delighted to have received a large number of registrations while numerous industry leaders had also said that they would be taking part. However, the current general conditions are now leading to a re-evaluation of the trade fair itself and within the industry. In particular, the exhibitors, who now have to approve their investments for participation in the trade fair, are highly uncertain as to whether the hoped-for and anticipated success could be achieved. The trade fair would also be generally affected by severe restrictions in its function as a marketplace and a meeting point. This means that Sachsenback 2022 cannot unfortunately be held.
“Although Sachsenback could actually be staged in accordance with the current Corona Ordinance of the federal state of Saxony, the strict health and safety regulations run contrary to the essential nature of this trade fair and severely restrict its normal operation,” said Stefan Lohnert, President of Messe Stuttgart. “After close consultation with the professional and promotional supporter – the Regional Guild Association Saxonia – and the other partners, we therefore agreed to postpone the next Sachsenback to the period between 13 and 15 April 2024. The exhibitors also unanimously welcomed this decision.
“Anyone who is familiar with Sachsenback primarily appreciates the regional ties and informal atmosphere at this industry platform,” added Roland Ermer, Regional Guild Master of the Regional Guild Association Saxonia of the bakery trade in Saxony. “Sachsenback has always been more than just an order trade fair. People met one another, exchanged information and experiences with colleagues, and also enjoyed a glass of beer at times. This charm would be totally lost under the current conditions. Although you could naturally hold a trade fair, it would not be a Sachsenback as we imagine it. Before we do things by half-measures, it’s best to postpone the trade fair.” The next Sachsenback will take place from 13 to 15 April 2024.
Sachsenback is the most important specialist trade fair for the bakery and confectionery trades in Central and Eastern Germany – a strong trade fair for a strong economic region. The exhibition focuses on work and operating technology, raw materials, merchandise, shop fittings and equipment, sales promotion and services for the baking trade. The BackForum complements the trade fair as a further visitor attraction. Major topics are the preparation of sweet fruit, canapés, tartes and confectionery cakes as well as show pastries. At the 2019 Sachsenback, more than 8,000 visitors from baking enterprises could view the offer of over 200 exhibitors, discuss novelties and exchange opinions about the developments in the industry.
